Benjamin was part of a medal-laden Para rowing squad at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games where he took gold in the men’s PR1 single sculls.

A former cyclist and triathlete, Benjamin became paralysed from the waist down after a cycling crash in September 2016. He first took up indoor rowing during his rehab at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and was quickly spotted by British Rowing staff, joining the para development squad in 2017.

Benjamin discovered a natural talent and love for the sport, making his GB Rowing Team International debut in the PR1 men’s single sculls at the 2019 World Championships. He came fifth at the delayed Tokyo Paralympic Games, setting a Paralympic record in the process.

Since then, Benjamin has achieved two World Championship podiums and has qualified

the P1 Men’s single for Paris where he is aiming to improve on his Tokyo performance.

Outside of rowing, Benjamin is gaining work experience in two areas he is passionate about - coffee and BBC local radio. He is married to Meg and is father to Efa.
