Bio

At Paris 2024, Hannah Cockroft repeated her glorious Tokyo 2020 haul with two gold medals in the T34 100m and 800m ahead of her teammate Karé Adenegan in second place.

Cockroft’s double triumph in London proved to be the catalyst for a period of continued success which saw her claim every major title going. At the London 2012 Paralympic Games, she won 200m gold on a night dubbed ‘Thriller Thursday’ where David Weir and Jonnie Peacock also won Paralympic gold.

She has been unbeaten at a Paralympic Games ever since improving her tally with a triple run in Rio and another golden double in Tokyo.

In Tokyo, Hannah clocked a new world record of 16.39s over 100m in the process. In the 800m, she set a Paralympic record of 1:48.99, finishing more than 10 seconds clear of her rivals.

She was made a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2013 New Year’s Honours List.

The Halifax racer lowered both of her world records in the T34 100m and 800m in 2023. She started the year with a new 800m leading time of 1:44:43 in Dubai before lowering her 100m best to 16.31 seconds in Nottwil, Switzerland. Cockroft then improved her world title tally to 16 with four wins at the following two World Championships in Paris and Kobe, Japan earlier this year.

After the Paralympics, Hannah will be getting married to long-time partner and T54 wheelchair racer Nathan Maguire. Both are ambassadors for wheelchair service Invacare and Hannah is a massive fan of the pop band McFly.
