Bio

Sabrina Fortune made a stunning return to the Paralympic podium at Paris 2024 winning F20 shot put Gold in the Stade de France; the Welsh athlete smashed her own world record in the process, extending it by 29 centimetres with her first throw.

Fortune was inspired to step up in the sport in 2012 and has developed into one of the world’s leading F20 shot putters.

Her first two major championships - the 2015 World Championships and 2016 European Championships - saw her finish fourth which set her up perfectly for Rio 2016 where she won bronze on her Games debut.

In 2018, Fortune claimed her first major title, winning F20 shot put European gold in Berlin. The continental triumph was followed up with a world gold in Dubai, her first global title secured with a PB on her final throw.

That performance earned Fortune automatic selection for the Tokyo Paralympic Games, where she finished fifth with a throw of 13.56m.

Fortune was back on top of the podium again in 2023, when the Deeside thrower reclaimed the world title in Paris with a season’s best mark of 14.01m.

She repeated the performance in Kobe, Japan with another world gold.

Away from competition, she turns her creative hands to 3D art, sugarcraft and baking, as well as spending time with her dog Sparky.
