Bio
A keen cyclist from childhood Helen was part of the Great Britain Cycling Team’s under 23 sprint academy before moving across to the para-cycling team as a pilot at the end of 2010.
Helen teamed up with Paralympian Aileen McGlynn and the pair enjoyed immediate success winning silver in the tandem B kilo at the 2011 Para-Cycling Track World Championships in Montichiari, Italy.
The pair then enjoyed an excellent 2012 winning three silver medals at the Track World Championships before winning silver in the tandem B kilo and bronze in the tandem B pursuit at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
Following Aileen’s retirement, Helen was paired with Sophie Thornhill for the 2014 Commonwealth Games and they won two gold medals in the tandem B sprint and tandem B kilo.
At the start of 2015 the pair teamed up at the Track World Championships winning gold in the tandem B sprint and tandem B kilo, the first world titles of Helen’s career.
They then won two silver medals at the 2016 UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships in Montichiari, Italy.
With no sprint event at the Paralympics, they focused their attentions on the kilo event and they were successful, winning gold and breaking the Paralympic record. They also picked up a bronze medal in the pursuit.
A change in partners for 2017 saw Helen pilot Paralympic triathlete Alison Patrick for the UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships in Los Angeles - the pair winning silver in the tandem sprint and bronze in the kilo.
In 2018, Scott teamed up with Thornhill once more - and the reunion lead to a brace of world titles on their return to Rio. The duo won gold in both the 1km time trial and the sprint, setting world records in both events and they repeated the trick weeks later in the Team England colours at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
She made a successful return to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics as pilot with experienced rider Aileen McGlynn with the duo winning a silver medal in the Women’s 1000m time trial B.
