Gemma Prescott

Prescott took up athletics at age 14, she explored wheelchair racing and swimming before settling on the throwing events and was invited to compete at the DSE National Junior Championships in Blackpool in 1998. In 2005 Prescott entered the Paralympic World Cup taking gold in the F32 discus and silver in the F32 shot.

At Beijing 2008 Gemma made her Paralympic Games debut, where she finished eighth in the F32-³⁴⁄₅₁-53 discus and seventh in the F32- 34/52/53 shot put.

Prescott represented England in the 2010 Commonwealth Games, taking the bronze medal in the SP shot put.

She competed in London 2012 Paralympic games, where she recorded 20.50m in the final of the F31/32/51 club throw, allowing her to claim a bronze medal.

Prescott attended the IPC Athletics World Championships in Lyon, France 2013 finishing 8th in the Women’s Club Throw F31/32/51. A couple of years later Prescott attended the IPC Athletics 2015 World Championships in Doha, Qatar competing in the Women’s Club Throw F32 narrowly missing out on a medal and finishing 4th.

Attending her 3rd Paralympic Games in Rio 2016 Prescott won a bronze medal in Women’s Club Throw F32 and continued her success into 2017 at the World Para Athletics Championships in London where she finished 3rd again.

Her most recent major event was the Tokyo Paralympic Games, where she finished seventh.
