Sustaining a spinal injury while on duty as a firefighter, David was first introduced to Wheelchair curling at the age of 49 at the Northern Ice Curling Club.
A former semi-professional footballer, David swiftly rose through the ranks to make his debut appearance for Scotland at the Stirling Wheelchair Curling International Invitation in 2018 – just three years after taking up the sport.
The following year David was part of the successful Scotland that won a silver medal at the 2019 World Wheelchair Curling Championships where he was joined by current teammate and skip, Hugh Nibloe.
David made his Paralympic debut at Beijing 2022 where the Wheelchair Curlers had some notable victories including a 10-6 success against the USA, who finished fifth in the competition, but ultimately were knocked out at the round robin stage.
Unfortunately David sustained a shoulder injury in the match against Canada and was ruled out for the remainder of the Games.
