Zac Shaw is a visually impaired sprinter who made his Paralympic debut in Paris in the T12 classification. In his debut Games Shaw won two medals, claiming Bronze in the T12 100m and Silver in the 4x100m Universal Relay in the Stade de France.
After being inspired by the London 2012 Paralympics, Shaw began training in an attempt to make the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio.
In 2015, he qualified for the IPC Athletics World Championships in Doha where he finished sixth in both the 100m and 200m. Despite not making the team for Rio, Shaw didn’t stop believing in his dream to compete at a Paralympic games.
In 2022, Shaw’s hard work began to pay off as he won silver at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in front of a home crowd. Shaw would go on to win Bronze in the T12 100m and silver in the 4x100m in the 2023 World Para Athletics Championships just a year later as he pushed to make the Paris squad.
In 2024, Shaw was voted alongside teammate Ali Smith to be captain for the Great Britain and Northern Ireland team at the World Para Athletics Championships in Kobe. Zac didn’t let this honour distract him, securing a Bronze in the 100m and silver in the 4x100m Universal Relay.
