William Ellard made his Paralympic debut at Paris 2024 - and came away with an impressive S14 200m freestyle gold, S14 mixed 4 x 100m freestyle gold and an individual world record to boot.
The Beccles-born swimmer also claimed silver in the S14 100m butterfly in the French capital to cap off a terrific first-ever Paralympic Games.
A breakout year in 2023 witnessed Ellard claim multiple World Series medals before making his full senior international debut at the World Para Swimming Championships on home soil in Manchester where he claimed individual silver in the 200m Freestyle, in addition to gold and silver in the S14 Mixed 4x100m Freestyle and Medley relay quartets.
Having achieved multiple Paralympic qualification times at the 2024 Aquatics GB Swimming Championships, Ellard equalled the Men’s S14 200m Freestyle world record on the final night of competition in London. A few weeks later at the European Championships he took his maiden continental titles with gold in the 200m Freestyle and 100m Butterfly, while scoring further medals in the 100m backstroke and 200m Individual Medley.
