Burrows took up the sport at age 13 with the North Staffordshire Special Olympics group in Stoke-on-Trent, England and made his international debut at the IWAS World Junior Games at Stoke Mandeville.
He won his first senior world medal with T38 400m bronze in 2015 before an injury forced him out of competition for two years.
Burrows made a slow return in domestic events and in 2021, he earned selection to the European Championships squad, where he won a silver medal in the T38 400m in Poland.
The Charnwood athlete made his Paralympic debut in Tokyo, where he finished seventh in the T38 400m final.
