At Milano Cortina 2026, Nina Sparks will become Great Britain’s first ever female snowboarder to compete at a Paralympic Games.
After falling in love with the mountains on a family holiday to Switzerland, Nina learnt to snowboard aged 13 at Wycombe Summit - her local dry slope – and started going on trips abroad with school, friends and her college throughout her teenage years.
At university, Sparks joined the snowsport team and began racing on dry slopes around the UK as part of the British University Dry Slope Championships, as well as going on trips with the team. She joined the GBX Academy programme in 2018.
After being diagnosed with MS in 2021, nerve damage in Nina’s right leg set her on a path to being classified as a Para Snowboarder later that year.
Sparks has excelled in banked slalom on the international circuit, becoming 2022⁄2023 Europa Cup champion and moving up to World Cup level the following season. She comes into Milano Cortina fresh off the back of banked slalom bronze at the Steamboat World Cup, USA (February 2026).
When she is not snowboarding, Nina works as a music teacher, volunteers as a scout leader and coaches kids in pedal car racing.
