Maguire began wheelchair racing in 2014, debuting in that years London Mini Marathon, his first taste of wheelchair racing on a huge scale. He went on to win the race and set a new course record in the process.
The Cheshire racer earned his first international call-up in 2016 at the European Championships in Italy and made the World Championship squad for London 2017.
Maguire’s first taste of international success came at the European championships in Berlin 2018, where he won three bronze medals in the T54 100m, 200m, & 800m. He was also part of the gold medal- winning 4x100m Universal relay team, securing a world record in the process.
He won three further medals at the 2021 European championships in Poland: Bronze in the T54 400m & 800m as well as Silver with the 4x100m Universal Relay team.
More relay success came at Tokyo 2020 as Maguire charged home to secure Universal Relay silver in a European record 47.50 alongside teammates Jonnie Peacock, Libby Clegg with guide Chris Clarke and Ali Smith.
Since Tokyo, Maguire won gold at both the 2022 British Athletics Championships and the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Earlier this year, Maguire secured bronze in the World Para Athletics Championships in Kobe.
