At just 13-years-old, Maddie became the youngest wheelchair basketball player to represent Great Britain when she represented GB at the 2008 European Under-22 Championships.

The following year, the Derbyshire athlete was selected for the senior GB team at the 2009 European Championships where the then 14-year-old went on to return home with the first of four bronze medals in that competition (2009, 2011, 2013 & 2017).

After being presented with a signed 2000 Paralympic Games jersey during a junior competition, Maddie set her sights on competing at a Paralympic Games. It would soon become a reality with Maddie making her Paralympic Games debut at London 2012, where the team finished seventh.

After a break to start a family following European bronze in 2013 and fifth at the 2014 World Championships, Maddie returned to the training programme in 2017, and added another European bronze medal to her haul during that same year.

It was the start of a successful return for Maddie who has gone on to earn silver medals at the 2018 World Championships and 2019 European Championships, along with U25 World bronze in 2019.
