Lizzi Jordan

It was a debut games to remember for Lizzi Jordan as alongside her tandem partner Danni Khan, they secured gold in the Women’s B 1,000m time trial.

Lizzi Jordan grew up riding horses rather than riding bikes, spending all her weekends at stables with friends. Having started a psychology degree at Royal Holloway University in London in 2016, her life would change forever shortly after she finished her first year when a takeaway resulted in an E.coli infection, causing multiple organ failure.

Lizzi was put in an induced coma, and after some pioneering treatment, opened her eyes. It took several days to figure out what the lasting damage was, but arguably the biggest damage was that Lizzi had lost her sight.

Wanting to make sure she still had a level of autonomy, Lizzi took up running and by the end of her first year, recorded a 26-minute PB at her local Parkrun.

Hearing of a British Cycling Talent ID day in 2020 as her fitness level improved, Lizzi attended and just a few weeks later, received a call as she joined the para-cycling Foundation team.

After Covid disrupted her rapid progression, in 2023 Lizzi was called up to the Para cycling Track World in France where she won her first silver medal. Shortly after at the World Champs on home turf in August 2023, paired with tandem pilot Amy Cole, Jordan won gold in the mixed team sprint and bronze in the 1km time trial.

2024 has been equally impressive from Lizzi, with a hat trick of gold medals at the UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships in Brazil alongside her pilot Danni Khan setting them up in excellent stead for a debut at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
