Krysten Coombs went one better in Paris 2024 to win a silver medal and upgrade on the bronze medal he won at Tokyo 2020. He battled gamely in front of a partisan home crowd in the men’s SH6 decider against French favourite Charles Noakes who was cheered on by a raucous late night home crowd at La Chapelle Arena.

After a tight opening game, Noakes pulled away early in the second and despite a late Coombs flurry, sealed a 21-19 21-13 success

Coombs also won ParalympicsGB’s 124th and final medal of the Tokyo Paralympics by battling back from a set down to win a bronze medal in the SH6 singles category.

Coombs lost the first set convincingly against Brazil’s Vitor Tavares in Tokyo but he sensationally rallied back and overcame a nervy final set to help him climb on to the last step on the podium with a 2-1 victory.

The Totnes player has previously been successful as a world doubles champion in 2015 as well as a three-time European champion in both doubles and mixed doubles.

Most recently, he claimed a bronze in the SH6 singles and silver in the mixed doubles at the 2023 European Championships in Rotterdam. He teamed up with Poland’s Oliwia Szmigiel but was beaten in straight sets by fellow ParalympicsGB team-mates Shephard and Choong.

Away from the court, Coombs is also a professional actor and has credits for world-renowned TV series such as Game of Thrones and The Witcher.
