Bio
Joy Haizelden made her major senior debut for Great Britain aged just 15 at the 2014 World Championships, marking the beginning of an international career that has already included several international medal successes.
A year after making her GB debut, Joy played a crucial role in the GB Women’s bronze medal European Championship campaign in 2015. It was also during 2015 when Joy was part of the history-making GB junior team that was crowned U25 World Championships in Beijing, China.
A year later, Joy made her Paralympic debut at Rio 2016, aged 17, as the GB Women’s team achieved a stunning fourth place finish, the highest achieved by a women’s team.
Post-Rio, the medal success continued for Joy, who, along with the U24 Women, achieved back-to-back U24 European Championships gold medal wins in 2016 and 2018. In 2019, the GB Women brought home the U25 World Championships bronze medal.
Joy and the GB Women made history in 2018 and 2019, becoming the first GB Women’s team to reach the finals of the World and European Championships, claiming two historic silver medals.
