Iona Winnifrith was the youngest member of ParalympicsGB when she made her Paralympic debut at the Paris 2024 Paralympics at just 13-years-old.
Born in 2011 and aged just 13 years and 148 days, teenager Winnifrith stormed to silver in the 100metres breaststroke SB7 with a personal best swim at La Defense Arena.
Her maiden international championships on the British team witnessed Winnifrith winning European titles in the SB7 100m Breaststroke and SM7 200m Individual Medley, in addition to a S7 50m Butterfly bronze in Madeira.
Tonbridge-born Winnifrith preceded her international debut with a multi-classification 100m Breaststroke British title at the Aquatics GB Swimming Championships in London.
She was first introduced to swimming when sitting watching her brothers train at Tonbridge SC, and the club invited Winnifrith to join as the youngest member in the learn to swim section at the age of five.
Away from the pool Winnifrith has two dogs who love playing in the garden and going on walks, while she additionally is a member of the local youth theatre, performing in plays and also school productions.
