A redistribution of slots by the International Paralympic Committee handed Hetty Bartlett the chance to compete at her debut Games in Tokyo, as one of three people added to the ParalympicsGB squad in early August.
The 30-year-old already has pedigree on the international scene, having won 200m gold at the 2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Abu Dhabi, and finished fourth in the long jump.
It is the latter event in which she will represent Great Britain on sport’s greatest stage this summer, alongside Olivia Breen in the women’s T38 category. A lover of animals and sport in her youth, Bartlett started athletics when she was 14 and counts walking the dogs, going to the cinema and going clothes shopping among her interests away from the track.
