Bio
Helen Freeman has represented Great Britain at three Paralympic Games (2008, 2012 & 2016), including London 2012 where the Watford native was the GB Women’s leading points’ scorer. Four years previously, Helen was the youngest athlete to be selected for the wheelchair basketball team at the Beijing 2008 Games when she earned her call-up, aged only 18.
A six-time European bronze medallist and 2019 silver medallist, the 4.0 player has thrice assisted the GB Women to their highest ever placing at a World Championships: earning the sixth spot in 2010 (Birmingham, UK) before building to an historical fifth place at the 2014 Championships in Canada and more recently securing the silver medal at the 2018 World Championships.
In addition to her success on the senior international circuit, the University of Illinois graduate (major: Kinesiology) is also a highly decorated junior having won several medals with GB U22 Team and captaining the GB Women’s U25 Team to World Bronze in Canada in 2011 and silver at the 2013 U25 European Championships, where she was named to the All-Star team. Helen was an Athletic All-American all five years as well as an Academic All-American for three years.
