Grace Harvey started swimming as part of her physiotherapy but her parents also wanted her to learn how to swim as an important life skill. She joined her first swimming club when she was 9 and was classified when she was 11.
At her debut Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Harvey claimed a silver medal in the SB5 100m breaststroke. Three years later at Paris 2024 she went one better, winning her first Paralympic title in the same event.
The Ware swimmer had juggled training for the Games alongside studying for a Masters degree in public dental health and working part-time as a model for the Storm agency.
Harvey is a ten-time British record holder and won the European SB5 100m breaststroke title at the 2024 Championships in Madeira along with silver in the S6 100m freestyle.
She claimed her first world title at the 2022 Championships in Madeira with a time of 1:41.19 topping the podium in the SB5 100m breaststroke before adding a silver and bronze to complete the set in the S6 100m freestyle and SM6 200m individual medley.
This performance allowed her to qualify with England for the 2022 Commonwealth Games, where she won breaststroke silver behind team mate Maisie Summers-Newton. Harvey added another silver in the SB5 100m breaststroke one year later at the 2023 World Championships in Manchester.
