Born and brought up in Edinburgh, Gary first played wheelchair basketball, but injury meant he was forced to stop playing. However, the desire to do compete remained and it wasn’t long before he turned his attention to wheelchair curling, encouraged by his former basketball coach Tom Killin.
Gary joined the British Wheelchair Curling Programme in 2018 and made his international debut for Scotland at the 2020 World Championships in Wetzikon, Switzerland where the team finished ninth.
Gary made his Paralympic debut as the Wheelchair Curling team lost 6-4 to a strong Sweden team in the evening session on Day 4 at the Ice Cube. The ParalympicsGB team were knocked out in the round robin stage but achieved some notable victories including a 10-6 victory over USA.
