Dave represented ParalympicsGB at his third Paralympic Games in Paris 2024 after starting out as a swimmer in Beijing 2008.

Ellis has been a dominant force in para triathlon for nearly a decade which culminated in him and his guide, Luke Pollard, crossing the line in first place and clinching the gold in Paris after a dominating run phase in the men’s PTVI event.

As a swimmer, his best finish out of six races in Beijing 2008 was sixth in the S13 200m Individual Medley before he made a full commitment to Para triathlon in 2013. He made an immediate impact in the sport securing the European title in Turkey before being crowned world champion in Hyde Park London.

After learning the male VI category wasn’t included in the Rio 2016, he made a brief switch to athletics in 2015 before returning to the triathlon courses in 2017. He went on to win two World Championships and three European titles either side of his Paralympic appearance in Tokyo.

Unfortunately, due to a bike chain failure, Dave and his guide Luke Pollard were unable to complete the race in Japan.

They bounced back quickly though to go on an impressive unbeaten run. They went onto win 10 straight gold medals, that lasted almost two years and included a World title win in Abu Dhabi, a European title win in Spain and a Commonwealth Games gold on home soil at Birmingham 2022.

Dave was recently appointed as a board member of the ParalympicsGB’s athletes commission, which give athletes a voice in shaping the future of the team.
