Dan Pembroke broke the world record twice to take a magnificent Gold medal at Paris 2024, repeating his Tokyo Paralympic success in the F13 javelin.
Pembroke began throwing a javelin at secondary school, before joining a local club.
As a junior athlete, he competed for Great Britain and Northern Ireland in three age-group championships; his highest placing was 11th in the javelin at the 2011 IAAF World U20 Championships in Moncton, Canada.
However, an elbow injury ended his chances of qualifying for the Olympic Games in 2012, so he took a break from the sport until 2019.
He pulled on the British vest for the first time in 10 years at the 2021 World Para Athletics European Championships where he broke the European record for the F13 Javelin, throwing a mammoth 66.75m for gold.
Success continued at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games where he set a new Paralympic record of 69.52m to win gold.
Pembroke then completed the set as reigning European, Paralympic and World champion with a season’s best mark of 70.50m to top the podium again in Paris before marrying his wife Martina. He successfully retained the title earlier this year in Kobe, Japan.
