Ben took up wheelchair tennis in 2016, inspired by the success of ParalympicsGB’s record-breaking wheelchair tennis team in Rio and, particularly, the success of fellow Norfolk citizen Alfie Hewett.

Ben was first selected to represent the GB junior team at the 2018 World Team Cup, aged 12, and has a small collection of silver medals from the event.

During a distinguished junior career Ben would emulate fellow Britons Gordon Reid and Alfie Hewett in becoming junior world No.1. He also won the Wheelchair Tennis Junior Masters boys’ singles title and the inaugural US Open boys’ wheelchair singles title in 2022, adding the doubles title at both events with Dahnon Ward, who joins Ben in also being selected to make his Paralympic debut at Paris 2024. Ben ended 2022 being named ITF Junior Wheelchair Tennis Player of the Year and was among the athletes shortlisted for the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year award.

After making his Grand Slam debut at the Australian Open in January 2023, later in the season Ben reached the men’s doubles semi-finals at the inaugural European Para Championships in Rotterdam

He made his Wimbledon debut in 2024, reaching the men’s doubles semi-finals on his 19th birthday.
