Whiley and Shuker clinch doubles crown
Jordanne Whiley capped a perfect week in Korea as she and Lucy Shuker claimed the women’s doubles title at the Daegu Open.
Whiley had already claimed the singles title with victory over Momoko Ohtani and she followed it up with a second successive doubles crown alongside Shuker.
A week after Whiley won the Busan Open singles and doubles titles, she did the same again, as she and Shuker got the better of number one seeds Marjolein Buis and Manami Tanaka 6-3, 3-6, 10-1 with a dominant performance in the super tie-break.
The British duo had not dropped a set on their way to the final, and made the perfect start by winning the first set.
Although Buis and Tanaka levelled the match by taking the second set, Whiley and Shuker then proved far too strong as they powered to the title in the super tie-break.
