Bio
Susie Rodgers joined the British Para-Swimming Team in 2011, inspired to aim for London 2012 after watching the Beijing Paralympics in 2008.
Rodgers qualified for London 2012 across five individual events and won her first Paralympic medals with individual bronzes in the 100m freestyle S7 and 400m freestyle S7 as well as 4x100m freestyle relay 34pt bronze.
Following London 2012, she made her 2013 IPC Swimming World Championship debut one to remember by picking up individual silver medals before landing gold with the 4x100m freestyle relay 34pt quartet, a title which they retained two years later in Glasgow.
At Rio 2016, Susie created one of the most memorable images of the Games for the look of shock on her face when she won gold in the 50m butterfly S7. The Paralympic Champion also won two individual bronze medals in the 50m and 400m freestyle S7 at her second consecutive Games.
Susie announced her retirement from competition in May 2017 and went on to work in Public Affairs for the British Paralympic Association. She also sits on the Board of the London 2012 legacy charity, Spirit of 2012.
She was recognised for her achievements in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list in 2017 when she was awarded a MBE.
