Michael Jones made his Paralympic debut at Rio 2016.

Jones made his mark on domestic competition ahead of his Games debut. His time at the 2015 British Summer Championships would have won him silver at the IPC Swimming World Championships that year and saw him finish second in the 2015 world rankings for 400m freestyle S7.

He celebrated his first Games in style, winning gold in the 400m freestyle S7 and making finals in both of his other freestyle events.

After going through rehab following a shoulder injury, Mikey made a triumphant return at the 2018 European Para Swimming Championships where he reasserted his dominance in the 400m freestyle S7 by winning his second major international medal.

In 2019 Jones recorded a series of top-10 finishes in the 50m, 100m, and 400m S7 freestyle events at the 2019 World Para Swimming Championships in London.
