Bio

Mel Nicholls is a three-time Paralympian who previously competed in the T34 wheelchair racing events at London 2012 and Rio 2016. While switching to Para Triathlon for Paris 2024.

The Tewkesbury athlete loves adventure and it’s this and her passion for sport which has taken her all around the world, which includes World and European medals and setting world endurance records.

Mel first tried Para triathlon in 2019 but it would be three years before she would make her international debut.

She had back to back wins at World Triathlon Para Cup Alhandra and Bari. Her World Championship debut ended the 2022 season as she came fifth in Abu Dhabi.

Last year, Mel won her first major medal in the sport by securing European silver in Madrid and claimed a top-10 finish at the World Championships in Pontevedra. Since October, she amassed a run of six consecutive podium finishes at World Cup events.

Away from performance sport, Mel also set a world record handcycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats in seven days before raising over £1,500 for Ovarian Cancer Action by handcycling 4,800 miles around the coast of the UK.
