Megan is a former swimmer who won World and European medals as a teenager, she then made her Paralympic debut in the PTS4 Para Triathlon race in Paris. During a sensational morning around the River Seine, Richter claimed a surprise gold and admitted her shock was off the scale after winning the top prize.

Since the age of 13, Megan represented Great Britain in para-swimming after making her international debut at the European Junior Swimming Championships in 2014.

In 2018, she had a successful podium year returning from Dublin with three medals, two silver and one bronze in the S8 100m backstroke, SM8 200m Individual Medley and the SB7 100m breaststroke.

Megan followed that up with a bronze in the S8 100m backstroke on her World Championships debut in London.

At that time, Megan had also started her Para triathlon journey having first taken up the sport in 2017 after seeing an advert for a Talent ID day.

Her first experience of multisport came at the British Paraduathlon Championships in early 2018, only a few months before Megan’s European medal successes in para-swimming.

The Birmingham athlete won her first gold medal on her international debut for Great Britain at the 2018 World Cup event in Madeira.

After taking a break to focus on her biomedical science degree, Megan returned in 2022 to finish fourth in her first World Championships at Abu Dhabi.
