Matt Harding will fulfil a lifelong dream when he makes his Paralympic debut in Paris.

The former swimmer made a promise to his mother in 2008 when she was in hospital diagnosed with cancer. The promise was if she beat cancer, Matt will do everything to honour her at the Paralympics where she will be supporting him in France.

Matt won the 2022 European title in the 72kg class, just one year after making his international debut in the sport following his switch from the pool. He dedicated his winning lift to his late father Colin, who passed away just before the Commonwealth Games that year, where Matt finished sixth in the lightweight category.
