Katie started skiing at the age of 5 on a golf course in Nethy Bridge, progressing from there to the slopes of the Scottish Cairngorms. Joining the Scottish Ski club, Katie followed in her sister’s (Charlie Guest) footsteps and competed individually until 2015. During this time, she picked up national titles and represented both the Scottish and British national ski teams.
Following two seasons spent at Killington Mountain School in Vermont, Katie decided to retire from the sport and start at Newcastle University. However, this did not last long, and she stepped in to guide visually impaired skier Millie Knight for a week’s camp at Wittenberg. She quickly agreed to become Millie’s reserve guide for the following four seasons, accompanying her on camps when Brett Wild was injured. During this time, Katie also guided Darcy Werner and together they won both Slalom and Giant Slalom titles at the British Para Alpine Championships in 2019.
Katie joined forces with visually impaired skier Menna Fitzpatrick in 2021 and the pair went on to win Slalom gold and Super Combined silver at the delayed World Championships in 2022 in Lillehammer, Norway, as well as claim the 2022 Overall Para Slalom World Cup title.
Selected to be Menna’s guide at Beijing 2022, Katie unfortunately tested positive for the COVID virus just prior to the Games and was unable to travel.
In the 2023⁄24 season, Menna and Katie took 12 World Cup podiums including victories in Downhill in St. Moritz, a brace of Super-G wins in Steinach, and in Giant Slalom in Sella Nevea.
