Bio
Paris 2024 will be Issy Bailey’s third consecutive Paralympic Games from making her debut in the sport at Rio 2016. Issy is the sole member of the team competing in the pistol events.
She began the sport in 2014 as a method of rehabilitation following a spinal cord injury, having previously been a talented hockey player from Cirencester.
Issy was introduced to the sport at Stoke Mandeville hospital, where she initially tried Wheelchair Rugby, but felt that the physicality of the game would not be beneficial to her injuries. Luckily, the shooting squad were training in the same place and after a quick session with them, her natural talent and patience for the sport was discovered. She was on the national team within a year of her injury.
Away from the range, Issy is an avid student and has completed an undergraduate and Masters degree with the hope of completing a PHD in Literature at Loughborough University. She enjoys reading and travelling, having visited some exotic islands in the South Pacific.
