Diagnosed just six years ago with a degenerative retinal condition (Retinitis Pigmentosa), Fred made his transition into Para sport after previously competing in the decathlon.

Now a visually impaired Para Alpine skier, Warburton made his first race start in February 2025 and has progressed quickly on the international circuit. He and Guide, James Hannan, have earned multiple podium finishes at FIS and National Championships level and the pair made their first World Cup starts in Steinach, Austria, at the start of this season.

At Milano Cortina 2026, Fred and James secured a 7th place finish in the downhill and came in 12th in both the Giant Slalom and the Super G in their debut Games - cheered on by their army of fans the “Fred Heads”.

Fred lives and trains in Cervinia Italy with Monte Cervino Ski club, he balances skiing with a full-time career as a software designer.
