Gillies first competed with Peasgood in 2021. Having recorded a DNF at that year’s European Championships in Valencia, the duo bounced back to take bronze at the World Championships in Abu Dhabi.

A year later and Gillies and Peasgood were back on the podium, making amends for the 2021 European Championships by taking silver in Olsztyn, Poland in the 2022 edition.

A couple of weeks after their best result together they went one better and claimed their maiden win as an athlete and guide pairing at World Triathlon Para Cup Besancon. Their final race together before Peasgood took maternity leave was a bronze medal at the 2022 World Triathlon Para Championships in Abu Dhabi.

Having started off as a swimmer from the age of seven, Gillies qualified to race at 15 Scottish Championships and also played football as a goalkeeper for Dunfermline Ladies Reserves.
