About us

We are the British Paralympic Association (BPA). As the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) for Great Britain, it is our responsibility to select, prepare, enter, fund and manage the ParalympicsGB team at the Paralympic Games. We also have a strong strategic objective to use the successes and the stories of Paralympian athletes to inspire wider societal change.

A key element of our ambitions for social impact includes the Parasport programme, making this role integral to the organisation. Parasport powered by Toyota is an online hub designed to empower and inspire disabled people across the UK to become more active, we work hard every day to increase the range and awareness of opportunities available for disabled people throughout the UK. It is a key part of Toyota GB’s commitment to make movement better for people and helps ParalympicsGB deliver its vision: Through sport, inspire a better world for disabled people.

With the excitement of the recent Tokyo Paralympic Games and the Beijing Winter Games still fresh in our minds, there could not be a more exciting time to join us!

We offer a generous range of benefits including: pension, season ticket loan, cycle to work scheme, employee assistance programme, private healthcare and generous holiday entitlement.

We are based in accessible, modern offices in the heart of London and have a new ‘performance hub’ on campus at Loughborough University. We have a flexible approach to working patterns. This commitment to flexibility in how we work, when we work and where we work is an important feature of life at the BPA and we will do all we can to help you work in a way that suits you.

Come and meet us, we’re great to work with! In a recent survey, when asked what was great about working at the BPA, staff said the following:

There is a real sense of team and a real sense of pride throughout the organisation. People really work well together”.

“Being part of an organisation with real impact and purpose, working alongside really kind and talented people”.

“It’s a great environment to work in and you have the knowledge that you are making a difference”.

About you

Working both remotely and at the British Paralympic Association headquarters in central London, you will be working in a small but effective team on a high-profile campaign. You should be passionate about supporting people to discover the benefit of being more active – meeting friends, building confidence, and improving their physical, social and mental wellbeing.

The Parasport Engagement Officer role is primarily designed to accelerate the number of activity providers registered and engaging with the Parasport platform and to improve the opportunities available for disabled people to become more active. Reporting to the Parasport Campaign - Project Manager, you will support activity providers from beginning to end of the Parasport sign-up process, including initial contact, prompting them to register, responding to their queries, and enhancing the listings on the site.

Whilst the role has existing functions and responsibilities like community management across our social media platforms and website, supporting the organisation of an events series, coordinating a co-production lived experience advisory board and a well-established content series, it also has plenty of room for you to be creative and innovative to help us achieve our ambitions for the programme.

You will have a passion for enhancing inclusive sport and physical activity for disabled people, be excited by a busy and wide-ranging role and will have the skillset needed to prioritise and lead a number of key areas of work, whilst also being happy to step up and get involved across the organisation.

The successful candidate will be supported every step of the way on their journey with the BPA. We are committed to giving people a positive Team experience and are committed to helping all our staff develop their skills and reach their full potential.

For full information on the role’s requirements please review the job description which details the main tasks and responsibilities and the person specification.

The BPA is fully committed to the principles of the equality of opportunity. It is responsible for ensuring that no job applicant receives less favourable treatment, on the grounds of age, race, disability, parental or marital status, religious belief, sex, gender, social status, or sexual orientation, than any other.

We have just launched our new 10-year strategy: Championing Change, 2022-2032. You will therefore commit to our three values:

Excellence – Everything we do reflects our ambition to be world leading. We care deeply about what we do and bring a flexible approach to our interactions with others. Like the athletes we support, we will always challenge ourselves and others to do better.

Respect – Our relationships with each other, our partners and the wider community are based on respect, trust and a deep-seated belief in diversity, inclusion and the value of our differences.

Integrity – We demand the highest standards from ourselves and others, seeking always to do the right thing and to engage with openness and transparency in all that we do.
