ParalympicsGB confirm core sports science and sports medicine team for Tokyo 2020
Our team of doctors, nurses and physiotherapists who will form the core sports science and sports medicine team for ParalympicsGB at Tokyo 2020 has been confirmed.
The team will work across pre-Games preparations in Japan and at the Games in Tokyo, led by Dr Tom Paulson from the English Institute of Sport (EIS) who has been appointed Performance Services Manager.
Penny Briscoe OBE, ParalympicsGB Chef de Mission, said: “The core sports science and sports medicine team are crucial to optimal performance at the Games and will support our athletes to give their best performance at career-defining moments.
“I’m delighted to welcome this team of doctors, nurses and physios to our team, who bring with them a wealth of experience, technical expertise and knowledge of the unique Paralympic environment.”

Doctors – Stuart Miller (CMO), Kate Strachan (Deputy) and Jim Kerss
Nurses – Kim Brinkworth (Lead), Neil Hipkiss and Sadie Melling
Physiotherapists – Dawn Ibrahim (Lead), Tom Hignett and Catherine Smaill
The Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games will take place from August 25 – September 6, 2020.
