Job alert: Practitioner Psychologists

Are you an Educational or Clinical Psychologist with an interest in sport for people with an intellectual impairment?

To increase access to competitive sport for people with an intellectual impairment and maintain Great Britain’s successes on the international stage, the British Paralympic Association and the UK Sport Association for People with Learning Disability (UKSA) are looking for HCPC registered Educational and Clinical Psychologists to assess potential athletes to ensure they meet the eligibility requirements established by the Virtus Eligibility Process.

The Virtus Eligibility Process includes assessing athletes against three criteria of IQ, adaptive behaviour and age of onset. It is the first step for an athlete with an intellectual impairment on their journey into competitive sport.

By submitting your expression of interest and CV you will have consented to this information being shared between the British Paralympic Association, the UK Sport Association for People with Learning Disability and selected National Governing Bodies of Sport in the UK.

Successful candidates will attend an induction on the Virtus Eligibility Process, as well as a presentation on where the assessments fit into the journey of a Paralympic athlete. Information will be provided on report writing, which has slightly different aims than within the clinical context. Regular development support will also be available.

You will become part of a network committed to using their professional skills in a distinct and novel way that will make a real difference in the lives of athletes with an intellectual impairment.
