Fitzpatrick and Smith complete hat-trick of silvers
A third slalom silver medal in three days was the prize for Menna Fitzpatrick and Gary Smith at the World Para Alpine Skiing World Cup in Prato Nevoso, Italy.
After securing two second-place finishes on the first two days, Fitzpatrick teamed up with new guide Smith once more and the duo found themselves on the podium again.
The 21-year-old – who won gold in the event with Jen Kehoe at PyeongChang 2018 – posted a time of 1:47.33 for her two slalom runs to leave her in second place, behind Austria’s Veronika Aigner but ahead of Germany’s Noemi Ewa Ristau.
It was the fifth World Cup medal of 2020 for the pair, who also secured two bronze medals in the giant slalom in Veysonnaz, Switzerland.
