Job: Chief Executive Officer, British Paralympic Association
A word from Nick Webborn, BPA Chair
The Paralympic movement is at a time of huge growth with ever increasing global interest in Para sport and the potential to engage with global audiences like never before.
Great Britain has a unique place in the history of the Paralympic movement as its founding nation and having hosted the London 2012 Paralympic Games which transformed Paralympic sport here in the UK and globally. The British Paralympic Association (BPA) is a registered charity and a membership organisation. It is the National Paralympic Committee representing Great Britain at the International Paralympic Committee. Our team at the Games – ParalympicsGB - boasts an impressive record, consistently a top three nation in the medal table. With more medals across more sports than any other nation, in Tokyo ParalympicsGB held on to the second spot on the medal table coming only below China. With an impressive six medals in the Beijing 2022 Winter Paralympic Games, the breadth and depth of Para sport in the UK across both Summer and Winter Games is at an all-time high.
Our vision ‘Through sport, a better world for disabled people’ is what drives us. Working with our incredible athletes we are at the start of an exciting journey which was set out in our ten-year strategy ‘Championing Change’. We are working with our Paralympians to inspire a change in attitudes to disability with our long-term focus to deliver real and sustainable change in the lives of disabled people across the UK.
The Chief Executive is central to providing the leadership to drive this new strategy for both sport and wider society. This is a rare opportunity to lead an amazing and inspirational team as well as to work in partnership with companies and organisations that share our vision, member bodies and a large range of stakeholders.
With just under two years to go until Paris 2024, it is an exciting time to join the BPA and a great opportunity for an inspirational, dynamic and values-led leader to excel. If you are passionate about sporting excellence, driving the opportunity to have meaningful impact on and off the field of play and creative at building commercial and impactful partnerships, we’d love to hear from you.
Our aim is for our colleagues to be a diverse mix of talented people who want to come and do their best work. The British Paralympic Association is committed to increasing diversity and maintaining an inclusive workplace culture. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates regardless of their ethnicity, race, gender, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, age, marital status or whether or not they have a disability.
