British Paralympic Association welcomes Dwarf Sports Association UK

The British Paralympic Association formally welcomed its newest member, the Dwarf Sports Association UK (DSAuk) at its annual general meeting this week.

The association promotes and seeks to increase sport and physical recreational opportunities for people with dwarfism from grass roots to world level performance.

Mike Sharrock, Chief Executive of the British Paralympic Association, said: “I am delighted to welcome the newest member to the British Paralympic Association family.

“Short stature athletes have played an integral role in the success of ParalympicsGB and captured the imagination of the British public.

“We look forward to working closely with DSAuk and the wider membership to help us deliver our vision: through sport, inspire a better world for disabled people.”

Paralympic champion Ellie Simmonds who has competed at Beijing 2008, London 2012 and Rio 2016 and is training hard for Tokyo 2020 is the Charity Patron of DSAuk

President and Founder of the DSAuk Arthur Dean OBE said: “As President of the Dwarf Sports Association I am thrilled that the DSAuk has been given the fantastic opportunity to become a member of the British Paralympic Association.

“DSAuk is an amazing, unique grass roots sporting association which changes the lives of people with dwarfism, giving those people fantastic opportunities to participate in sport on a level playing field, as well as progressing through to Paralympic Competition and other opportunities that may arise in the world of disability sport. Together we can make a difference”
