BP One Team cycle ride event fundraising in aid of ParalympicsGB

Paralympic champion Richard Whitehead says he was happy to see people embracing the Paralympic spirit after attending the One Team cycle ride for the fourth year.

The event saw 245 cyclists from BP riding from Bisham Abbey in Marlow to raise funds for ParalympicsGB with just under £12,000 raised and close to £20,000 in total with BP Matching.

Double T42 200m champion Whitehead joined riders on the day to give a few words of wisdom before waving them off at the start line.

“This is my fourth year doing this partnership with BP and it’s a great event for bringing people together and spreading the Paralympic message,” said Whitehead.

“It’s a platform to engage with people about the Paralympics and it’s great when people embrace that message like they do here.”

The event, now in its ninth year, is organised by a team of BP staff and offers three routes (25km, 50km and 100km) accommodating cyclists of all abilities.
