24 August – 5 September 2021: Tokyo, Japan. The postponed Tokyo 2020 was the second time the Paralympic Summer Games had been hosted by the Japanese capital – 1964 the other occasion. 537 events from 22 sports were contested, with badminton and taekwondo the new additions to the programme.
