One year to go: ParalympicsGB eyes Paris 2024 as big opportunity to grow fanbase
Paris 2024 will be the first Paralympic Games since London 2012 when all the action takes place while the UK public is awake presenting a massive opportunity to reconnect with fans and build a whole new audience.
With one year to go until the start of Paris 2024, ParalympicsGB is continuing its meticulous preparations for a Games just a short distance from these shores.
With Channel 4 committing to more live coverage than ever before and Paris such a well-connected City for travel from the UK, these Games promise to create the biggest buzz around Paralympic sport since London 2012.
Penny Briscoe, OBE. ParalympicsGB Chef de Mission for Paris 2024, said: ”Paris 2024 presents an incredible opportunity to reconnect the British public with the unique thrill of seeing outstanding sporting performances live, either at the venue or watching and listening in the UK.
Nothing beats the feeling of watching sport live.
“With thousands of fans and friends and family in the venues and millions more following the action at home we see this as our biggest moment since London 2012 to deepen our connection with the British public. Nothing beats the feeling of watching sport live.”
To give fans the chance to get closer to the action ParalympicsGB is offering one lucky prize winner, plus a guest, the chance to win a dream trip to Paris 2024 to witness some of the British athletes in action.

Penny Briscoe said: “We enter every Paralympic Games filled with ambition and shooting for the stars. I can say with absolute confidence we will have spine-tingling medal moments every day and be doing all we can to empower athletes to achieve personal best medal-winning performances at Paris 2024.
“Following performance at recent World Championships we have seen the emergence of new athletes and also that Para sport is becoming ever more competitive globally meaning we must keep evolving to maintain our status as a world leading team.”
“My visits to Paris convince me that they will be incredible hosts for the games with iconic venues, sustainability at the heart of their thinking and delivering the most accessible athlete village and venues.”
At Tokyo 2020 ParalympicsGB won medals across a record breaking 18 different sports - the highest number of any nation ever. ParalympicsGB finished second on the medal table with 124 medals overall, including 41 gold, 38 silver and 45 bronze.
