BP is one of the world’s leading international oil and gas companies and a long term supporter of the British Paralympic Association, having forged a successful partnership through its tier-one sponsorship of the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
Throughout the 2012 cycle BP demonstrated equal backing for Paralympians and Olympians alike through its athlete ambassador programme and all of its activations. Being Sustainability Partner for London 2012 BP helped create the most sustainable ever Games, from supplying advanced fuels for use in the official vehicle fleet to its Target Neutral programme, used to offset the carbon from over 500,000 people’s travel to London.
In July 2013 BP committed to continue the journey with the BPA all the way through to the Rio 2016 Summer Paralympic Games. As part of this long term strategy it continues to support the six athlete ambassadors it supported in the run up to London 2012 – including Paralympians Richard Whitehead, Stef Reid and Shelly Woods – alongside extending its partnership with the British Olympic Association.
