Philip has been President of the International Paralympic Committee since 2001.

Before being elected President of the IPC Philip carried out a number of high powered roles for Wheelchair Basketball. He was President of the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation from 1988-2002 and Performance Director of the Great Britain mens team from 1997-2002.
He received a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honours in Geography from the University of Manchester in 1972 and received two further Honorary Doctorates in 2006 - one in Science from Manchester Metropolitan University and the other in Law from the University of Nottingham. In 2005 he was Knighted by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for services to Paralympic Sport – making him Sir Philip.
Whilst maintaining an interest in all sports, Phil is also a keen gardener and wine enthusiast.
